What is the Defense Security Service (DSS)?

The Defense Security Service (DSS) is an agency within the Department of Defense (DoD) which plays a crucial role in safeguarding our Nation’s security. DSS makes its contribution to the National Security Community by conducting personnel security investigations and providing industrial security products and services, as well as offering comprehensive security education and training to DoD and other government entities in the areas of Personnel Security Clearances, Facility Security Clearances, safeguarding, computer security and Foreign Ownership Control and Influence.
