FACILITY TECHNOLOGY SERVICES, INC., IS NOW
SQUADRON DEFENSE GROUP
Company Also Announces Senior Leadership Hire and
Creation of Cyber Security Business Unit

Sterling, VA (October 8, 2015) – Having made significant organizational changes in response to the challenges facing the Industrial Security industry, particularly the rising threat of cyber security attacks, Facility Technology Services, Inc. has changed its business name to Squadron Defense Group. The announcement was made today by Keith Marino, President and CEO of Squadron Defense, as he also unveiled the company’s new Cyber Security business unit. At the same time, it was announced that industry veteran, Phil Robinson, had joined Squadron as Vice President, Compliance & Managed Security Services, to oversee the company’s professional consulting unit.

In making the announcement, Marino said, “Increasing threats around the globe are driving substantial demand for our products and services. Adding a Cyber Security capability is a natural extension of our existing industrial security consulting services. We are particularly proud of the network of cyber veterans that we have assembled to address the market’s exploding needs in this area.”

Marino added, “Phil Robinson’s joining our team with his extensive national security experience, prominent position on multiple NISPOM related organizations and far-reaching relationships is a real statement about our commitment to the market. With these changes it was an appropriate time to rename, rebrand and, in many ways, re-launch the company. We are fortunate to have the support of Squadron Capital, LLC, and believe the new name captures the company’s focus of assisting our corporate and government clients in achieving their security and compliance goals.”

Phil Robinson is a recognized leader in the industrial security field and brings to the company nearly 30 years of government and private sector experience. After a 21-year career in U.S. Army Special Operations, Phil went on to serve as an independent nuclear security consultant, a senior security advisor and most recently, was senior executive director of corporate security at CGI Federal. He is widely published in the industry, an active executive on multiple NISPOM-related committees, and has a B.A. in social science and history from Campbell University and an M.A. in business and organizational security management from Webster University.

Squadron Defense’s services range from designing and building sensitive compartment information facilities (SCIFs) and secure rooms, to providing TSCM security “sweeps” and IT system “lock downs.” Its consultants advise on a broad spectrum of industrial security issues including security clearances (PCL and FCL); foreign ownership, control and influence (FOCI); Insider Threat initiatives; and export control (ITAR/EAR) programs for companies with security clearances and classified contracts as well as those looking to strengthen their security posture against corporate espionage and other illicit activity.

Marino added, “Our CONEX-based mobile SCIFs and our proprietary, modular SCIF product provide our clients, their classified information and intellectual property with physical, acoustic and RF/EMI protection that has been recognized and accredited by virtually every DoD and intelligence community agency. Our new Cyber Security unit adds a critical layer of digital protection to complement our SCIF offerings with comprehensive network assessments, pre-emptive hardening techniques and breach mitigation services.”

David Pelizzon, President of Squadron Capital, LLC and a retired U.S. Army officer, said, “Squadron Defense Group provides a unique investment opportunity for us to be involved in an industry that is experiencing enormous growth while advancing national security activities that I have supported throughout my career. We believe the company’s new additions will stimulate growth that will continue well into the future. We are very excited about the company’s potential and very supportive of these additions.”

Squadron Capital, LLC, owner of Squadron Defense Group, is not a traditional private equity firm but an acquisition vehicle funded by a Chicago-based trust and led from its headquarters near Hartford, Connecticut. Squadron’s mission is long-term investment (multi-generational) and support to its portfolio companies’ leadership teams in the execution of their business plans. Squadron Capital’s governance/oversight structure is highly decentralized and offers a unique opportunity for its portfolio company’s leadership to grow and lead “their” company.

NOTE: Squadron Defense Group will be exhibiting its modular SCIF product at the upcoming AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition (October 12-14, Walter E. Washington Convention Center, booth 3444 in the Small Business Pavilion in Hall C).
